Smokey 1747 hr (Thursday 5th September 2019)

It has turned quite Autumnal this week, although I am one of those who doesn't believe Autumn begins until the Equinox later in the month. Smokey has certainly noticed the change and was already indoors clamouring for his supper at the appointed time. The sun is setting noticeably earlier too, and was casting evening light on C&M's garden acer at 1850 hr (as seen through my study end window in the Extra).

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Greateful Dead - Next time you see me (recorded live, 5 December 1971, Madison Square Garden's Felt Forum, New York NY)
I've been playing through a box set of the Grateful Dead's 1971 radio broadcasts over the last few months and have nearly reached the end. It seems that during the tour Jerry Garcia would ring ahead to the local FM radio stations and arrange for live broadcasts of their entire sets. In December their founder member Ron 'Pigpen' McKernan returned to the fold after an absence of a few months due to illness, and participated with a few lead vocals of which this was one where he also played harmonica. He was mostly interested in blues and soul and this was a Little Junior Parker number from 1957 that Pigpen had performed with the band since 1966. He had to leave the band in May 1972 and they never played it again.
