The Old Forge (Friday 6th September 2019)

For Flower Friday I did a quick tour of the woodland garden after breakfast. I was impressed by the colour of a recently-flowered young buddleia but have chosen the light falling on these elderberries for Blip. Thanks to Bikerbear for hosting the challenge.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Reparata and the Delrons - Captain Of Your Ship (1968)
Girl groups were prevalent in the early sixties - the Shirelles, Ronettes, Crystals, Shangri-Las - and one of the quirkiest was Reparata and the Delrons, best known for Whenever A Teenager Cries and Captain Of Your Ship. Reparata was the confirmation name of lead singer Mary Aiese who came from Brooklyn NY and initially the group were all classmates in the Good Shepherd school choir of St Brendan's Catholic High School there.
Captain Of Your Ship featured clanging bells, foghorns, megaphone vocals and Morse code, and was co-written by Kenny Young, who had written Under The Boardwalk and in the seventies wrote for and produced the UK band Fox. I was listening to The Best Of Reparata and the Delrons on this day.
