Some people just KNOW how to make an entrance. Pilot (Rich Goodwin) certainly knew how as thousands of people along Clacton sea front watched in awe as he drew this sky smiley.

Meanwhile BBC Essex listeners at home heard about the antics and had to settle for my description. Mum and dad tuned in from Sussex along with some of my friends in Kent and Northamptonshire.

The ‘stunt’ was the talk in the pilots’ bar this evening too. Great to finally meet Team Raven, a bunch of jovial Welshmen who know how to not take life too seriously. Loved their twizler manoeuvre today!

And of course a great opportunity to catch up with flying friends and kindred spirits from other teams around the country. Some of whom I only ever see at air shows. Time to change that I feel... watch this space.

All in all a day for smiling.
