First real autumn day, wet and cold. Trip into town to attend the union general meeting to discuss upcoming ballots and climate walkout. The unrest over our pensions is continuing. After a lot of warm and supportive noises from the employers nothing really has changed. They still appear to want to shut down the current defined benefit scheme. It is not clear to me why they want to do that. Maybe a well working pension scheme is against the neoliberal orthodoxy. As a bonus we will be asked to vote on industrial action against casualisation and for pay rises and improved conditions. I will vote in favour of industrial action in both cases.

Meanwhile the shitshow that is Brexit is continuing. On the plus side I have learned a lot about how Europe, the UK and the world in general work.

The picture shows a delivery of liquid argon which we use for the mass spectrometer.
