Moor Green Warriors

What an amazing day! I was a tad concerned because it was tipping down with rain when Angela & I first arrived at Cannon Hill Park for the Moor Green Warriors Relay Walk, but luckily it cleared up pretty quickly and only drizzled once after we got going. The Moor Green Warriors are a group of patients from the Moor Green Brain Injury Rehab Service who decided to organise this walk to raise funds for the rehab centre gym (I wrote an article here about who they are, why they decided to fundraise and where to donate). They spent 3hrs in the park, with at least one person from the group of 26 Warriors walking the 1/2 mile lap around the boating lake at all times (though it was often small groups of Warriors). Most of the folks involved have had to re-learn how to walk and regain all their strength, so this was a top notch achievement for them all. It was amazing to see the relationships between the staff and patients too; the Warriors are a very close knit and friendly group and they clearly care so much for the staff and the work they do at Moor Green. The Warriors have so far raised over £2,500 which will absolutely get them a treadmill! Truly a brilliant event.
