Life through the lens...

Meander Around Mirfield.

I don't think.
A case of misrepresentation.
Northernlass261 and my self met up with North Kirklees Group of the  Ramblers to do what was advertised as a " Meander Around Mirfield".
6 miles. Moderate.
What we did was a very brisk walk ( as usual we were at the back trying to take a photo here and there) along the Calder Hebble Navigation to Thornhill, Dewsbury.
Then a short climb up the hillside, with a lunch stop at the top.
My were we ready for that! Our sandwiches, cake, bananas and coffee revived us for the walk back, which was through some lovely woods, and great views.
After 7 miles we were back in Mirfield, and the two of us called into the Navigation Pub for a well earned drink.
Don't think we will be going on another of those walks, although the Bronte walk I did with them from Oakwell was very enjoyable.
Slightly different set of people.
We both like to take things a bit easier and have time to look at the surroundings, ( and also take photos)
Pudsey Ramblers are certainly more my style.

Have now had a nice soak in a hot bath. ( almost nodded off)
I think a glass of wine beckons.

The collage shows the canal.
Lees Hall, Thornhill, which dates from about 1420.
Hopton Mills Cricket Club, and a very friendly heron standing high up on a bridge.
The view looking down on Mirfield.
