Friendless no longer

This is the church of St Denis, in East Hatley.  After having been deconsecrated in the late 50s it became virtually derelict and the South Cambridgeshire District Council was inclined to allow it to rot to the ground.  However, it had been Grade II listed and owners of such buildings may not allow such damage to continue so the Council had to do something.

The funds set aside for the church's rescue were handed to the organisation Friends of the Friendless Churches who spent about £90k making it better.  There's a way to go, but it stands and the graveyard remains sacred ground for burials, including natural burials.

I haven't rectified the leaning verticals in the outside view since I would have lost some of the building.
