An Ancient Hidden Norfolk Gem

Backblip
That's what the leaflet says, and I have to agree!  M and I try to have a 'date' day every week and take ourselves off for a day together.  Amongst other places we visited, and lunch out, we went to find All Saints Church at Waterden.  This beautiful church really is in the middle of nowhere.  The village of Waterden is mentioned in the Doomsday Book but it is thought to have died out in the 16th century possibly because of the enclosures act. The church is a mixture of architectural styles thought to date back over 1,000 years.  It has recently been restored with the aid of a National Heritage Lottery Fund and despite there being no electricity or running water the church is still used several times a year and is in the parish of South Creake.
It is a sweet little church and was a delight to discover and enjoy.
I have included an extra of the simple interior and the view of the field through the porch side window.
