Venice - day 3 Island hopping

Up earlyish, and off across the Grand Canal to catch a boat to the islands.  Even hotter today.  Murano - quick walk around, and did a double take as they already have a “C” tree up in one of the squares - made of glass tubes!  Nice cool drink, then off to Burano - the boat was rammed!  It was very busy, possibly as it was Sunday and many were off work, so we escaped to the little backwaters, then had a lovely salad lunch in the main square.  Many houses have been newly painted and are brighter than ever - yes the green really was that eye piercing colour!  Joined the queue for the boat back to Venice, and found that the vaporettos were stopping in 3 minutes for a regatta to take place, and would not be running again for 3 hours! We had wondered why there were lots of sailing boats out near Torcello! Thankfully a boat turned up and everyone made a mad dash to get on.  A longer journey back via the Lido and San Marco, but at least we are back in time to got to our favourite restaurant this evening!
