...postcard view of Inchcolm Abbey (with D's wee hoose on the left there).

D & L picked me up in Leith and we made our way (past quite a few Kilt Walkers) to South Queensferry and Hawes Pier. I gave surplus vegetables to anyone who'd accept them - D & L, Duncan the boat skipper, etc etc. The trip out to Incholm was dreich with a chill wind, but after our brisk tour round the abbey and wee picnic the sun started to come out and by the time we got on the boat to come back we were in glorious sunshine.

On our way back into Edinburgh we stopped at Cramond as L was very interested to see the remains of the Roman Fort. They'd been to visit the Lioness in the museum yesterday, so I was able to show them the exact spot where D and colleagues had dug her out from the freezing sucking black mud. It was quite nostalgic!

After a brief pause we re-grouped at the Vaults and had a good feed plus delicious dram. Malt of the month was a 108 Allt-a'Bhainne - one of those ghost distilleries I think. Very drinkable.
