Fine day in Filey

Had to set the alarm this morning, up at 6 and out by 7..... unheard of, I know!! A day trip to the East Coast with camera club colleagues.

We made good time in our Minibus on a gloriously sunny morning, having a breakfast stop at The Highwayman cafe, just outisde York. It was bacon butties alround, with tea or coffee, very nice it was too.

Once we arrived in Filey we parked up in The Brig Country Park and made our way along the top and then down some precarious make shift steps to the shoreline and out towards the end of the Brig, lots of photo opporutnities!

Im glad to say that John H aka Riversider did make it, no thanks to BT messing around with his Interest connections. We had a good ol catch up whilst wandering and snapping away, but sadly not so long as we would have liked, as our driver was keen to move on to our next destination, so no coffee stop for us!

Next stop was Flamborough, North Landing.. which took us down a steep hill to the shore, obviously we had to go back up again. We followed a footpath across the top of the cliffs, again up and down more steps, but we had some great views, including this one. We had a cuppa sitting on the grass looking across Thornwick Bay, just beautiful!

We had a quick stop at the old Flamborough Lighthouse before taking the short drive to Bridlington for a Fish & Chip supper, which we were more than ready for. The cafe we planned to use was closed, but we found what turned out to be an even better one just up the road, whcih had a really nice sit in restaurant.

Did feel slightly guilty eating it, but it was sooo good! I must have walked off at least half those calories, with the 17k steps, surely??!

The extra black & white is looking back at Filey, from up top.

Our day ended with the most fabulous sunset, typically we were all buckled up in the minibus heading home, as we watched it develop, settimthe sky on fire......a fine end to a lovely day.

Think we will all sleep well tonight :-)
