Peterborough Climate Strike - dying of heat

Pete, Alex and I all joined in with the Climate Strike protest in Cathedral Square. On the hour everybody laid down on the pavement in a mock death scene - Alex and I found lying down in the city centre with so many other like-minded people a surprisingly calm and relaxing experience. At 1 p.m. we all stood in a circle making as much noise as possible while the alarms on our phones went off - a warning to government and industry that they really need to start acting now (though in truth it might already be too late to avoid many of the worst effects of climate change).

It was good to see young people taking the initiative in organising the protest, though rather sad that very few children from Peterborough schools had attended, particularly as we have an 'Environment City' logo and have declared a Climate Emergency. Action not words is needed....
