This morning I set off on train from Chester to Ulverston and began backpacking The Cumbria Way. We took a wrong turn somewhere before Beacon Tarn so it was 4.5 miles of blairwitching and a couple of hours later when we finally got our bearings and got back on track. To say getting to Beacon Tarn was a bit of a milestone is an understatement to say the least.
The full day racked up 16miles instead of the 12 we’d planned, making our way to Torver instead of Coniston Hall as planned. Thanks to the wonderful Lucy at Wilson’s Inn, we were allowed to pitch up on an empty field round the back. This will make the walk tomorrow slightly longer now too, but all should be good.
