Langdale Valley

Day 2 of the Cumbria Way, 14 miles from Coniston to Great Langdale.

And then there were two...

Sadly we had to say goodbye to TheMart this morning: He twisted his knee coming off a stile yesterday and the pain became too much to bear for him to carry on safely. Moods dampened somewhat, our spirits only lifted several miles later when we reached Tarn Hows in the heat of the midday Indian-summer sun to be greeted by an ice cream van parked up in the national trust car park. We both had a mint choc chip waffle cone each and then carried on, taking in the wonderful views, a pint in Chapel Stile and the final fewmilestretch through the langdale valley to the national trust campsite at Dungeon Ghyll where we put up our tents, had the most blissful shower ever and then tucked into food and pints at the StickleBarn and the hikers bar at Old Dungeon Ghyll hotel.

Roll on tomorrow :)
