Anniversaire

The big birthday is here so off we went foraging over Le Marais to find a required key ingredient - sunshine on a cafe terrace. Tick. Then on to gawp at Notre Dame before a perusal around the Maison Européenne de la Photographic where there was a great rétrospective by l’artiste anglo-marocain Hassan Hajjaj. He’d been given carte blanche to decorate two floors. From the French, meaning white carte.
Then a sit out in their garden cafe and the grand opening of cards. Neither of which was blanc.
Then on to a cake shop (meringues actually) for a cake with a candle, and the only picture of the four of us. Onward to lunch! And a delightful little square, Place Sainte-Catherine where luckily there was a good selection of vegetarian options. And a carafe of rouge pour moi.
On via Place des Vosges and the Bastille to the Metro and back, and I managed that teatime pint (25cl !), it being a Friday, at Hoppy Corner.
Time to step out for the grand evening meal at Liza - a Lebanese, which left us all totally poked.
The kiddiewinkles having waddled home, we had one last port of call, at Le Galibot, where the Bar owner, on hearing of the grand anniversaire, got out his blow torch and whistled us up a creme brûlée. Gratis. And despite being absolutely stuffed, we ate the lot. Phew. Roll on 61...
