Unimproved Grassland

This is the affectionate name for our front lawn, because it hosts mosses, a small range of wild flowers and most importantly, grassland fungi, such as Meadow Coral and a few types of waxcap such as this blackening waxcap. The action of the sheep grazing is mimicked by Mr PB with his lawnmower. The back lawn is very different as it was newly laid a few years ago when we had the garden remodelled. It has been largely destroyed by moles and other creatures so we are thinking of throwing in the towel and converting it into a mini wildflowe r meadow
