Above Derwent Water

I’m amazed I have this panorama from High Spy to blip from towards the end of the day, because mostly there were heavy clouds overhead and it was an on off on off day for waterproofs, or at least a zips up zips down kind of day.

Starting from Manesty the route was easy at first, up and over Hause Gate and down into Little Town. Then southwards towards the Interesting part of the walk; the craggy ridge of Castle Nook. The first half was fun, wending around the crags but the second half proved to be a tough climb battling through knee-deep heather. It certainly was a little trodden, thigh burning route!

On the way down I had time to reflect upon the last few days. So happy to be in the mountains; to walk, to scramble, to discover; to have the ability, the strength, the will; to wander, to wonder, to share the joy of it all.
