Why, Look Who It Is!

Well , look who it is ! Poppy in her element in the Hub of the Wool Week in Lerwick.

She joined me on my journey north to Shetland at Kirkwall late last night.
We had breakfast on board the ferry this morning before hitting the town and finding our guest house.

The tables have finally been turned on me and I am now a tourist along with 1000 + knitters invading Lerwick during the next week. You can tell who are the incomers by the knitwear sported- from hats to complicated Fairisle jerseys and everything in between.

The cafés are bursting with ladies of a certain age, needles clicking and tongues wagging sporting incredibly complicated woollen garments and knitting more.
It is a bit overwhelming and rather demoralising to notice the ability and talent of so many.
There are people from America, Australia, Canada ,Germany, The Netherlands, Africa and of course Great Britain.

Being Sunday, most of the shops were shut, but wisely not the wool shop which saw Poppy and I keep their profits healthy for the foreseeable future when we paid a visit in between needle clicking ourselves and coffee drinking. We are playing hard!

Tonight we have the welcoming evening when all the great and the good, together with us the visiting Wool Week beanie wearers, come together for cocktails and speeches.
We’re having the time of our lives, expense be damned!
