Nightmare!

I’ve had a hot pipe split in the spare bedroom under the concrete floor, with water everywhere and about 4 square metres of the carpet and underlay completely sodden. The contractor used by Homeserve thinks it was slightly split for a while and opened wide when the plumber connected the pump to the bathroom and en-suite. He has hinted that the copper pipes are poor quality and he hasn’t yet got all the split and it might not be worth chasing it either given the state of the pipe. He said it was the worst he had seen in over 20 years as a plumber, particularly as the house is only 23 years old. He doesn't think that re-plumbing via the attic is covered by my pipe insurance – I give up over insurance covering anything!!! At least adding the pump identified an existing leak. It’s been an extremely stressful day to say the least. The contractor is back tomorrow to see what he can do. There’s also a carpet company coming tomorrow through the house insurance to assess the damage, although the excess would be £350. At the moment I have no hot water to the bathroom or kitchen and can't use the en-suite shower until tomorrow as it hadn't been sealed and there's no basin in the en-suite as the wrong one was installed. Methinks this is going to be very expensive and annoying as the bathroom has only just been refurbished.
