China National Day

Today is the 70th anniversary of the formation of the People’s Republic of China, and therefore a public holiday here in Hong Kong too.

As a country celebrates up north, our beloved country is struggling with more protests, violence and unrest. It’s been extremely disheartening watching the events on the tele.

Martin and I did some work at the church office then went to Tung Chung to have lunch and for Martin to check out the newly opened renovated Mall. We wanted to watch a movie, but the cinema was closed. As were many shops in there too.

If you look really close, you can see some signage commemorating this day. Not lit up of course, as the pic was taken in daylight.

I see Hong Kong didn’t have any fireworks tonight.
