Reno to Denver

We took a train-trip from Reno to Denver.  Almost 25hours on the train - a long time - but it passed quickly and we had booked a 'roomette' which was comfortable enough for the duration of the journey.  Meals were included, so we could go to the restaurant carriage and have breakfast, lunch and dinner with the other diners, or there was the option of a café bar which was great for drinks and snacks.  There was a scenic carriage, which had huge windows which maximised the views all around.  The journey took us from Nevada, through Utah and on to Colorado.  We snaked along past the Colorado river for some time, watching fishermen, canoeists, thrill-seekers sailing down the rapids and people just out for a leisurely sail down the river.  Many of those in the boats gave the train and it's occupants a wave - some of them even bared their bums to the travellers - obviously a regular occurrence for the locals and a bit of fun for us.  The scenery on this part of our trip was just amazing.  Dry, desert-like mountains with lots of different markings as if layer upon layer of sediment was laid on like a blanket. Other parts of the trip were lush and green.  It was quite breath-taking in places.  We saw some wild mustang just grazing on the side of the mountains.  I absolutely loved this journey.
