Pittenweem - Elie - Pittenweem

We're now into October - and this month's 2nd Saturday walk will be across the Forth, in Fife ...

... planning to meet in Pittenweem, then walk to Elie/Earlsferry along the Coastal Path, undertake the Elie Chain Walk (optional, and an alternative route will be available!), then return by the Fife Coastal Path back to Pittenweem :-)

Further details/links follow below:

- meet at 10am, Saturday 12th October, at the very (dead)-end of ‘Mid Shore’ in Pittenweem
- there is free, on-street, parking at this location – see: https://tinyurl.com/yyw6vov8

- we do need to leave at 10am, to ensure that we get to the Elie Chain Walk when the tide is still low enough to complete it!
- and probably wise to leave at least 1.5hours to drive to Pittenweem, from Edinburgh

- regrettably, there aren’t any easy public-transport options for this month – it is possible to take a train to Kirkcaldy, then the X60 Bus to Pittenweem, but you’d need to leave by 7.30am to ensure getting there for 10am latest
… but car-spaces (from Shandon) may also be available to share ... so please do just let me know if you might need a lift?

- from Pittenweem, we’ll take the Fife Coastal Path (circa 5-miles easy walking) along to Elie – some details available within this link: https://fifecoastandcountrysidetrust.co.uk/walks/fife-coastal-path/elie-to-cambo-sands/
- just past Elie/Earlsferry, we’ll come to the Elie Chain Walk – full details here: https://jamescarron.wordpress.com/features/elie-chainwalk-step-by-step-guide

- those with a head-for-heights, can undertake the chainwalk, whilst those who would rather not can continue along the top of the cliffs to the end of the chainwalk, where we can all meet – and hopefully stop for some well-earned lunch!
- after lunch, we’ll then return via the Fife Coastal Path to Pittenweem (a further 5-miles easy walking) – again see some detail here: https://fifecoastandcountrysidetrust.co.uk/walks/fife-coastal-path/elie-to-cambo-sands/

- the overall walking-distance for the day will be around 12-miles (mostly on the relatively flat Coastal Path!), and with the chainwalk and lunch included, should take us between 6-7hours …
… thus; back in Pittenweem – potential refreshment opportunities, before we return to Edinburgh, include;

- the local chip shop which opens at 5pm – see: https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g729739-d4154373-Reviews-Pittenweem_Fish_and_Chip_Bar-Pittenweem_Fife_Scotland.html
- and/or there is a small pub near where the cars will be parked, which provides snacks etc. – see: http://thelarachmhor.blogspot.com/

But, either way, please do bring along plenty of food/packed-lunch etc. for earlier in the day.

If you're interested in coming along, and need any further detail, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me directly!
