Ötzi

The forecast wasn’t great for the hills so we decided to go to Bozen / Bolzano and visit the Ötzi museum where the mummified body is on display. He was found 90 metres on the Südtirol border in the melting ice in late summer of 1991. A lot of investigative work was carried out to show Ötzi is 5300 years old, suffered from old man diseases despite being in his early 40s and even had Lyme Disease. Even now he captures people’s imagination and we had to queue to get in, although not like the summer apparently. The museum is good, although photos aren’t allowed on Ötzi’s floor, so I’ve forgotten some of the detail. The blip is a life sized model made by some Dutch reconstruction artists. Afterwards we went on a walk through the old streets of Bozen, a delightful mix of Tyrolean and Italian, and the 2 extras are scenes and buildings on the street. The promised rain arrived as we drove to Predazzo to stay for the night. The people at the campsite give everyone a things to go in the area so we got some ideas from that.

Yesterday’s blip.
