Up At The Gills

As it is UK Fungus Day I put my macro lens on and went searching. I found this tiny white bracket fungus on a dead twig in the Butterfly Alley hedge. I took the twig out into the open and have photographed the underside of the fruiting bodies. I've tried to identify it and the nearest I can get is Schizophyllum commune, the most commonly found fungus on dead wood. However I don't think my specimen has the correct saw edges.

Ollie dog was delighted as the Parndon water meadows are now beautifully, sploshily wet. My extra is a handsome two-year-old German Shepherd Dog called Merlin who we met in Cat Lane.
