A garden full of butterflies

By late morning the sun had come out and so had the butterflies.  A much better day than I’d expected (though I think some parts of the country had heavy rain).

I counted four Red Admirals which all seemed to have been newly emerged, two Small-tortoiseshells and one Comma, plus a few small whites.  The most prolific set of coloured butterflies for a while.

A day for doing this and that for me, some house tiding, stick chopping, laundry and admin.  And I did manage a trip round the garden to take the butterfly portraits.  This is a Red Admiral on the purple Erysimum (everlasting wallflower).
