Quod oculus meus videt

Turning Colours

It was beautiful as we left the stables, L for her ride, me for some early autumn photography on Cannock Chase, but by the time we reached the edge of the woodland, it had started to rain.

It was so frustrating as the forecast had predicted sunny intervals in the morning, not dark clouds and increasingly heavy rain.  Still, we persevered, but my plans for lovely backlit autumn leaves were dashed by the uniform grey and rain.

I made the most of it, trying another Pep Ventosa style image of a small silver birch, its leaves starting to yellow as the influence of shorter days takes hold.  L headed back early, while I followed on a little later only to get back to the stables as the sun returned.  By then the horse needed to be dried off so he could have a rug on for the afternoon and we needed to get home for an afternoon appointment.
