The Bird

As the weather had improved today, I decided to take some exterior photographs of The Mackintosh Church.

This stone carving of the Bird is located above the main entrance to the building. It reveals a sophisticated handling of form, ornament and symbolic meaning, even at this relatively early stage of Charles Rennie Mackintosh's career.
