Extinction Rebellion Day 4 - Fifth Column

The rebels blocked Whitehall opposite Downing Street from Monday morning until yesterday afternoon - 60 hours. By the time I got back there this evening, this police line, supported a bit further down by five police vans parked right across the road, had very efficiently taken over preventing traffic from going through, thus freeing the rebels for other tasks.

Much less pleasing was seeing (extra), to a poignant piano accompaniment, the police carrying tents, sleeping bags and clothing to council workers stuffing the jaws of a rubbish lorry. The lorry was guarded to prevent any of us retrieving these goods which could, if they really had to be confiscated from the rebels, have been used by local homeless people. I hope the piano didn't end up being flung into the crusher too.
