We had difficult news today - took Kara to the vet as one of her skin lumps had grown. Each time before we've been told they are benign - a result of her having fed too many litters of puppies all her life. This time we were told that the lump is cancerous, fast-growing and likely to spread to her other organs.

It's hard to take in - she's had such a tough life before she was rescued from the cage that had been her only home for the first 8 years of her life. She has been so rewarding for the last 2 years, learning how to be a proper dog, experiencing walks, playing and affection for the first time in her life. She seems comfortable enough, so our focus is on continuing to make life as good as it can be for her.

I appreciate that some people may feel that this is a bit maudlin when it's only a dog. Well, I agree with that. And at the same time, sometimes what you really want to say doesn't go in a blip journal. This whole entry is my metaphor for the sad news that enters our lives from time to time about people that we love, and the effect that they have on us.

If that applies to you, my thoughts, love and blessings are with you and those affected.
