Shades of Autumn

It is taking time for the leaves to take on autumn colours. There are very little russet , reds and golds, and the trees that are changing are mainly yellow and light green. I think the leaves will fall before they take on the autumnal colours.

I had a mid afternoon walk around the garden and there is still quite a bit of colour.

There is a wild yellow shrub that has seeded itself and is still flowering. The salvia has purple flowers and there is a solitary pink rose against the fence. The red rosehips are abundant, as are the figs on the fig tree. Today we picked one almost ripe fruit, but the hundreds of other figs on the tree will not ripen this year. Such a pity.

There are red and yellow berries in different areas but the birds seem to ignore them.

It's been another wet and grey day. It feels as though winter is already here although we have another two months of Autumn. Perhaps we will have some autumnal weather in November.
