Chestnuts

I did some rotavating before forecast heavy rain. Found these lovely regular chestnuts under one of our few trees. Gathered up the last of the tomatoes and figs. Gonna make a last chutney and passata round.

Broke three tines on the machine pulling out rocks. I’m trying to cultivate as deep as possible as this summer demonstrated importance of getting plants to root as deep as possible before the drought conditions.

These autumn days are strangely, almost oppressively, quiet. Flicks of goldfinches are a pleasant relief.
