Paris Street at Night

We visited the Maison Européene de la Photographie (MEP) early this evening (it's free on Wednesday evenings), to see their usual set of temporary exhibitions (there are usually at least four, and they rotate every two months or so).

It's in the Marais (Paris 4e) on Rue de Fourcy--viewed here from the second floor. The most interesting exhibition was a survey of French photography from 1950 to 200o; extensively shown (and most interesting for us) were the 1950s--but it was altogether quite fascinating. Otherwise we enjoyed images by Susan Paulsen (American, b. 1957) of her home town in Arkansas, plus self-portraits by a teenager (Sarah N.--14, I think).

The MEP is good venue for photography--somewhat in the mode of the ICP in New York, but with a wider range of exhibitions and a more contemporary/avant-garde orientation.
