19102019 in a submarine

This morning we headed to Torrevieja to visit a friend of my husband who was there with his family. As a whim we decided to go see if we can visit the submarine that we saw in the marine (Google told us that it's a museum). It happened to be open and in we went!

What a treat it was. We got to visit a Customs Surveillance boat that was in use until 2006 and a submarine called Delfin that retired 2003 (the first ship of the Spanish Navy that became a museum).

On December 1st 1974 the submarine S-61 Dolphin was delivered to the city of Torrevieja, for its great seafaring tradition and its good relationship with the Spanish Navy. Once it was time to “retire” the ship was thought to deliver his last flag also in Torrevieja. It was donated to the municipality as a floating museum. In it's 15 years as a museum there has been over 1,3 million visitors!

After we came back from Torrevieja and had taken the dogs out, we headed out to the beach for me to have a swim. After that it was training time. Husband left cycling and I went to have my uphill walk.

Still one more left to do - with the dogs.

It's been a wonderful day filled with non-stop-action. I'm quite beat at this moment, but still very VERY excited about the visit to the submarine!
