Another Big Step

It was a lovely sunny day today and we were able to have breakfast and lunch in the glass room.

This afternoon we decided to go for a short walk from the house to see if my fitness has improved and how I coped with off road walking.

There are some new polytunnels near the footpath that are full of ripening strawberries. We do not know where these are to be sold. The growers provided the strawberries for Wimbledon Tennis Tournament in June. Who will be the latest lucky recipients. They are very tasty.

We continued our walk through the fields and had a bit of difficulty climbing through the brambles in the woods. But it did not deter us and we continued past the allotments and through Harvestfield, a public area with a small children's play area and bordered by fruit trees.

We were almost home but I suggested we continue on another walk as I was feeling very energised.

We walked on the footpaths across the farmland which is opposite our house and were almost home when two ponies prevented our access on to the path that crosses their field. They looked far too frisky for my liking and were too interested in what we were doing. We retraced our steps, climbed through the wire fencing and met up with a different footpath.

When we came out on to our lane I was shocked at the amount of rubbish on the ground and in the hedgerows. Take away food packaging and beer cans obviously thrown from cars, and the detritus of uncaring people.

I clocked up 7450 steps and we were out for almost two hours. Not a great amount of steps compared to what others achieve, but for me a huge achievement and another step forward in my progress. Onwards and upwards. And what is important is that I really enjoyed our walk and didnt ache, although I am feeling rather tired.

My blip is of two abandoned corrugated buildings that are in the middle of the woods.
This is my contribution to Derelict Sunday and thanks to Marlieske for hosting this.
