Where sheep may safely graze (now)!

For that is a gunpowder house, incredibly scenically placed on the edge of cliffs on the northside of the Mizen Peninsula. The weather being good, the world gone mad, we packed a picnic and headed off to somewhere we had never been before. The roads were tiny (see extra), the views sublime and we ended up at the remains of the Dhurode copper mines - Roaringwater Journal has all the information. The powder house, for blasting out shafts I imagine, remains though most other building have gone. It's very stylish - round outside but square within, and it once had castellations. It now has some rather severe cracks  but looks very romantic against it's impressive backdrop - which I have not captured here, but beyond lies the sea and the Sheep's Head.
We picnicked then carried on to Toor Pier,  and the end of the world. Just steep steps going down to the sea after the Stop sign - yet, four divers were on the pier and had had a good day's diving but the sound of it.

And a a new blog , a well with some very odd folklore attached.
