Special place in our hearts.

We were in Edinburgh early today. I was meeting a former colleague, who lives in Italy, and is here for a few days; we met in Jenners for coffee and had fine catch up. My wife met up with her sister.

Afterwards, my wife and I wandered back to the car on a route we don’t normally go nowadays - we were avoiding numerous street works and projects taking place in the capital. And we ended up here - at the church we got married in over 30 years ago - Broughton and McDonald Church. It was sold in the 1991, the organ relocated to Italy, and the furnishings disbursed. It’s now a prestigious auction house, and was open for exhibit viewing. So, in we went, not to view the items for sale ...but the building! It was lovely to see it tastefully restored. Incidentally, the little wooden path in the centre of the photo used to be an aisle, the one we took our first steps on as we left the church, married.

The church appeared too in the 1970s in the film “Chariots of Fire,” as a Church of Scotland in Paris!

In the evening we’d a family meal; our oldest son, who’d been on Skye on his birthday at the weekend got his gifts.
