Calopteryx splendens

Here's a curious thing. Walking the spaniel this morning I saw this on the road - the wings and partially eaten body of a male Banded Demoiselle damselfly. This is usually seen on the wing from April so I'm sure this must have been caught last year and been lying protected from the elements somewhere. Its kept its colours remarkably well.
