Mindfulness doodles...

Thank you for your kind words on yesterday's blip.

I have been a bit more productive today.  Well on the creative front if nothing else :-))

These little flower doodles started off as the mindless laying down of colour and, having done a lot of this sort of thing, I have come to call them mindless doodles.  But as I worked on these today (and others) the penny finally dropped that these are really mindfull rather than mindless as I am totally focussed on the moment when creating them.  Hardly surprising then that I find the process so relaxing.  Its also addictive.  In the blink of an eye it was 6pm and time to make dinner!

I also worked on some Christmas related paintings and after a couple of false starts, I am happy with the end results.  More on those another time.

David's weekly rehearsals with the vocal harmony group he sings with have started up again (a sure sign winter is on the way) so I used this evening to come up with a menu for Saturday night.

We have friends coming for dinner.  Two couples, of whom one half of each couple are ex-work colleagues of David from his Royal Bank of Scotland days, many moons ago.

We get together around three to four times a year (although for various reasons we've not all been able to get together at the same time for a while) and the last time we saw them we worked out we have been meeting up like this for at least 25 years.  No wonder I am struggling to come up with something new to make for our dinner together!  :-))

They are also a complicated bunch to cook for as one doesn't like fish/seafood, another doesn't like rice, another doesn't like anything too spicy, another doesn't like too sweet....you get the idea!

At the moment the menu consists of...

Watermelon with crumbled feta and fresh mint and prosciutto

Beef in red wine (it's a Slimming World recipe and is absolutely delicious) I will make in the slow cooker and serve with David's delicious creamy mash (he is famous for it :-) and green beans.

For dessert there will be homemade banoffee pie, and a fruit platter with Greek yogurt for the more health conscious among us :-)

Well that's the plan at the moment.
