Staithes and beyond

A beautiful autumn day in Yorkshire for our twentieth wedding anniversary. We went to the small, steep, atmospheric harbour village of Staithes for a short exploration. Plenty of activity there.

Then we went off on a circular tour of the North Yorks Moors via Gisborough, Helmsley, Pickering and back to Whitby.  Some wonderful countryside and fabulous autumn colours but not many places to stop.  We really liked Helmsley once we worked out the car park ticket machine!

When we got back to the hotel, there were some lovely roses waiting for me.  This evening we have had a delicious meal in the hotel brasserie - an eclectic mis of Yorkshire and France...

Home tomorrow.
