Dogwood Berries

The winds blew down a few pounds of these fruits. About the size of a golf ball. Google implies they are edible, but I'm too chicken to find out. Toxicity may depend on the variety. One reference says you can eat the fruit directly from the tree, but not the drops. One thing for sure: our tree produces an enormous amount of these things. I'll stick with the black Mission figs for right now; there's a bowlful macerating in the fridge, to be turned into jam tomorrow.
