Messy eater!

A fellow photographer I occasionally run into in the park recently commented that cardinals are very patient birds. They will sit in a nearby tree or bush and wait as all the other birds zip in and out, grabbing tasty treats for themselves. Eventually the cardinal will take his (or her) turn. As you can see from the picture, they are striking birds, but not necessarily the neatest eaters. There was a female cardinal close by, waiting her turn.
