Sugar Loaf II

" A physicist is just an atom's way of looking at itself."
Niels Bohr

A longer canal walk with good friend A today, from Llanfoist to Crickhowell, about three hours with plenty of dawdling and pauses for snaps along the way. Awen, "the song of the universe singing in praise of itself" was in full voice as the streams and canal overflow tumbled noisily down the hillside. Occasionally other walkers with/without dogs exchange greetings and the stragglers on canal boats, the season will be over soon, chug past. The limekilns dug into the hillside alongside the canal are a reminder of the area's industrial past, together with the scars on the hillsides above they are fleeting moments in history, still telling their story two hundred years on. Plenty of geology, geography and occasionally Quantum Physics to explore before lunch at Crickhowell. When we emerged from Bookish about an hour later it was like another day, colder and grey overcast. Time for an afternoon nap.
