The Lake and the Sky

It was another crisp and cool morning at 5.30am and I actually shivered momentarily which is pretty unusual at this time of the year so it was quite delicious :)

Rising early meant easing into the day again, it really does make everything more bearable. Jake is almost back to his normal self and he flew down the stairs when I mentioned the word walk after breakfast which is definitely normal.

As we neared the lake I could hear the sound of machines and then I noticed there was a MAN inside the fence cutting the long grass! In fact there were quite a few men all around the lake doing the same thing!

Hovering out in the middle of the water were all of The Swan Family accompanied by a mixed group of other smaller ducks that live there too.

The small ducks were churning around a wide circle and you could actually see the water was going in a circle! The Swans were just outside the circle as if they were in a class of their own - and they were all observing the MEN!

Must have been very disturbing for them all but this is done every year to get rid of a lot of the undergrowth as it will eventually get pretty dry and that means fire danger.

Jake of course was oblivious to it all and just wanted to push on with the walk :).

I was glad the day was busy again as it went by very quickly.

At sunset there was this unusual band of cloud that caught the light in a lovely way and it almost looked like words, which of course didn't translate via the iPhone :(
