Red Tenements

High Steet was once a prestigious place to live  - less so now. Red sandstone tenements stretch down High Street towards George Street. The Victorian flatted properties were built by the City Improvement Trust, 1899-1902, and were re-roofed, refurbished and stone-cleaned in 1985. The city coat of arms is carved on wall panels.
