If you can't beat them...

Mallard Drake (Anas platyrhynchos)

We were heading home today but we like to make use of the morning before we set off.  So we headed a couple of miles down the road to the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust Wolseley Centre.  This is always good for a wander round.  Of the shots I took there this drake Mallard appealed most.  The Kingfisher was too quick in disappearing up the stream.

A quick visit to the garden centre next door, back to the van for lunch and off to the motorway.  Where the delays all began again.  It took us over 20 minutes to cover the first 2 miles!  Over all we ran 53 minutes later than the satnav suggested the trip would take.   One of the delays was owing to a car broken down in a 2 lane speed restriction area.  With a solid barrier both sides they had nowhere to go and so the M6 was reduced to a single lane.
