A Day Worth Recording

Whenever it rains hard a fair torrent pours down the road and substantially through our gate especially when the drains are blocked (which they always are).  Last time it was particularly bad the partial flow towards the house was enough for the water to be lapping at the threshold of the door.

The starter plan was to put a drain in by the house and to re-grade the gravel so that the flow went the other way anyway.  As the day evolved the plan has extended to removing all the large round gravel which was never suitable for vehicles (think: ball pool), use that to resurface garden paths and replace the top surface of the car park with something that stays still rather better.

Ollie, the driver, is outstandingly skillful with the digger.  Something you don't really appreciate until you've tried doing this sort of thing yourself and created rather more a cratered landscape than anything you'd like to drive on.
