In the Shire

Tolkien spent time as a young boy in the Sarehole area of Birmingham and it is said to have inspired his imagination into creating imaginary worlds such as the Shire and Hobbits.  We were on a sculpture hunt this morning and ended up by a ford on the River Cole which runs through Sarehole.  I loved these leaves but worry that they are a sign that all is not well in the Shire...

The extra is a Dragon Bench supposed to be representative of Smaug the Dragon in the Hobbit.  It is outside the local library near Sarehole.

A busy day today looking for five sculptures - all found but a bit of a roundabout trip.  Then hospital appointment for Rob to see his consultant - we like her a lot and she says just to carry on as we are at the moment.  Then back to collect Dad to take him back across the City to have his Ear Wax removed.  Not my favourite activity but at least it's done now!

Thank you all for your expressions of interest in yesterday's poo...
