In a glasshouse

I don't know what this plant is but I thought it looked quite exotic, particularly at this time of year. I crept into a garden in my neighbourhood to photograph an agapanthus - and the owner appeared! However, he seemed pleased that I was admiring his garden and invited me to take photos of his glasshouse which he was clearly proud of - it's an antique.
