Getting the sparkle back

When is a black headed gull...

...not a black headed gull? Most of the year, in fact, apart from breeding season.

I met up with T at Blackford Pond this afternoon - at least that's still legal - and there were thankfully fewer people than last time. There are now only five cygnets, hopefully that means that the sixth has gone to find some other adolescent swans to hang out with for a few years. How on earth do they know where to go? The weather was great, with unexpected sunshine, but there was a real chill to it, winter rather than autumn.

Still anxiously awaiting the results of the US election.
