An independent spirit

Silly Saturday - An independent spirit.

In the Charles Schultz cartoon strip "Peanuts" there was one particular series of strips, where Linus was attempting to earn some pocket money during the fall by sweeping up the neighbours leaves.  However, one neighbour pointed out that there was still a single leaf on one of his trees and told Linus to go away and to come  back when it finally fell, as the curmudgeonly neighbour didn't want to have to pay Linus more than once for clearing up leaves...

The ensuing strips see Linus waiting for the last leaf to fall and considering the reasons that might lie behind the leaf not wishing to leave its tree.   When, finally, the leaf does eventually fall, he calls it a "stubborn little rascal" and picking it up, decides to take it home and to press it in a book.  As he walks home with the leaf he comments "I admire an independent spirit".

It always makes me smile :-)

It has been another cold, wet day here.  It was 3C here earlier on and very damp, so not really a great day for being outside.  I've been hard at it on the indoor chores, a little DIY, some baking and shopping etc.  With the evening nearly upon us it is time for me to go and start preparing the curry that I'm cooking for Cathy tonight.  Can't wait!
